The high wind warning starts at 7 a.m. and goes until around 4 p.m.
“A cold front will approach the coast Wednesday morning, moving onshore in the afternoon,” the NWS said in a bulletin. “South winds will increase quickly in the morning hours. Winds will ease once the front moves onshore.”
Sustained winds will be around 30 to 40 mph, with gusts more than 60 mph on the open beaches and exposed headlands.
The strongest winds are expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The NWS said to be prepared for occasional power outages. Coasta residents should secure outdoor items that could move in wind, and use caution if driving motor homes or other large vehicles.
Little wind was evident on Tuesday, and no rain had come down on most parts of the coast. By midnight, winds had picked up considerably in many areas. Rain and heavier wind began hitting areas like Manzanita, Cannon Beach and Seaside around 1 a.m.
