| 4.5 Magnitude Quake Off Vancouver Island, No Threat to Oregon Coast

(Vancouver, Canada) - The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is reporting a 4.5 magnitude quake about 224 miles from Vancouver, Canada earlier today – about noon, Pacific time. The depth was recorded at about 6.2 miles down.
No tsunami watches were issued by National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and there is no word that any threat is expected along the coasts of western Canada, Vancouver Island, or Washington or Oregon coast.
So far, the only information about the underwater quake is on the USGS website. There is no mention of it on NOAA’s site.
The exact location of the quake was 48.326°N, 127.847°W.
The distance from the quake to Neah Bay, Washington is 148 miles. It is 162 miles from Forks, Washington, 164 miles from Port Hardy, B.C., 205 miles from Saanich, B.C., and 224 miles from Vancouver, B.C.
